To choose Pilates leggings, compare the waistband, cut and comfort as you move. Here are the checks to make before your class.

Leggings that slide down as you move can need frequent adjustment. Before choosing, check how the waistband and fabric behave on you: a fabric name or a photo cannot replace trying them on.

1. Check the waistband

What to check: where the waistband sits when standing and then sitting. A rise that suits you should also feel comfortable when you bend.

What to compare: a flat, wider or higher waistband. Compare each design’s details rather than assuming one shape suits everyone.

The test: sit, stand and lean forward. Notice whether the waistband rolls, feels uncomfortably tight or needs pulling up. If you are between sizes, use our legging fitting checks to compare both options.

2. Compare the cuts

What to check: the legging length and how the fabric sits around your hips, knees and ankles. Avoid choosing only from a photographed silhouette.

What to compare: 7/8 and full-length cuts expose different parts of the leg. Choose the one you prefer wearing during class. To compare where each cut ends, read our guide to 7/8 and full-length leggings.

At Galaya Paris, ZANIA is presented with a 7/8 cut and MIRA with a flat waistband. These are specific points to compare, alongside your own fitting.

3. Check the fabric when bending

What to check: how the fabric looks when you bend your knees or lean forward. Try this in lighting that lets you see the garment clearly.

What to compare: how comfortable you feel with the coverage of the design and colour you try. Fibre percentages alone are not an opacity guarantee.

The test: make a few bends in front of a mirror. If the coverage does not suit you, compare another cut or design rather than relying on a general promise.

4. Read the composition and details

What to check: the stated composition, seam placement and finishes described on the product page. Compare this information with how the garment feels on you.

What to compare: specific garment details. Words such as “technical” or “second skin” do not by themselves describe how it will feel during your class.

Before buying, also read the care instructions. For mat or Reformer classes, follow your studio’s instructions rather than judging a garment’s grip from its appearance.

5. Try several movements

Do not stop at a standing fitting. Try a few familiar, simple movements without forcing them, and notice frequent adjustments or uncomfortable areas.

Check:

  • Sitting and bending: the waistband suits you and the fabric does not bother you.
  • Lifting a leg and standing upright: you do not need to keep readjusting the leggings.

If a design feels uncomfortable during fitting, compare another. The aim is an outfit you enjoy wearing, without treating clothing as posture correction or protection.

6. Put together an outfit that suits you

After choosing your leggings, try them with the top you plan to wear. Check that the two pieces overlap as you want when sitting or moving.

To continue choosing, compare Galaya Paris sports leggings and sports bras. Coordinated colours are an option, without needing to wear a matching set.
