Choosing your leggings · White and opacity

White or light leggings can be part of a Pilates, yoga or everyday outfit. Before choosing a pair, consider whether their coverage suits the situations in which you will wear them. Your preferred finish is personal: the aim is to move without constantly checking your clothes.

A studio photograph cannot answer every question. A garment might look sufficiently covering while you stand, then appear different when you sit or bend. Take time to consider the chosen size, the lighting and the underwear you wear together.

Use these practical checks to assess white leggings without relying solely on a colour, a fibre name or a claim on a product page.

01

Observe coverage in different situations

First, distinguish what you can actually see: an underwear colour showing through, a visible underwear seam, or simply a fold in the fabric.

LIGHT

Look in everyday lighting

Stand near a window, then check the lighting in the room where you get dressed. Look at the front, sides and back. Use a second mirror, or ask someone you trust to help, if you find that useful.

Keep a normal viewing distance. A photograph with flash, or light directed very close to the fabric, represents a different situation from an exercise studio. Compare several observations rather than reaching a conclusion from one picture.

MOVEMENT

Try the movements you make during a class

Sit down, try a comfortable bend and lean forward as you would during your activity. Observe the hips, thighs and knees without deliberately stretching the fabric to its limit. Check that the waistband also feels comfortable.

This fitting check gives you a reference for those movements and that lighting. It cannot guarantee the same result in every condition. If you keep interrupting a movement to adjust the garment, continue comparing your options.

02

Read the product details before choosing a size

Before buying, read the details for the exact style and colour, followed by the exchange or return conditions. A general collection description does not replace information about the individual piece.

Before you buy

“Opaque” and “squat-proof”: ask for the details

These terms alone do not explain the conditions in which leggings were assessed. Look for details about the colour, size and movements involved. If those details are missing, ask customer service rather than treating the wording as a universal guarantee.

Composition and construction: read them together

Read the composition on the product page and garment label. Do not infer complete opacity from “polyamide”, “polyester” or “elastane” alone, or from the term “seamless”. Compare this information with detailed views of the garment.

Also check whether the description mentions a lining or panels. A fabric trade name, fibre percentage or fabric weight in isolation cannot tell you exactly how that garment will look on you.

1
On the product page: look for front and back views, the exact colour and information about the cut.
2
When trying it on: consider movement, waistband comfort and coverage together, rather than judging by one factor.

The size should suit your body in motion

Take your measurements and consult the guide for that style. A smaller size is not a way to obtain extra support, and a larger one does not automatically resolve a coverage issue. Our guide to choosing between two legging sizes explains useful fit checks.

03

Try the complete outfit, beyond a standing mirror check

Make your final assessment with the items you actually intend to wear. This lets you judge a real outfit rather than one garment on its own.

Choose the underwear you intend to wear

Compare your underwear’s colour and finishes beneath the leggings. A colour close to your skin tone is one option to try; the result depends on the combination. Distinguish a visible seam line from fabric transparency, then choose what feels right for you.

Compare styles without assuming availability

To compare cuts and the information for individual pieces, explore the Galaya leggings collection. Check the colours on the relevant product page: an editorial photograph or an old link does not confirm that a white version is currently available.

04

Care for light leggings according to their label

Keep the garment label and follow its directions for washing, permitted products and drying.

1
Prepare the wash: check the recommended sorting and label instructions instead of applying one rule to every pair of white leggings.
2
Use the stated settings: follow the temperature, cycle and drying directions given for your garment.
3
Check again afterwards: examine the garment and try it on before your next class; do not assume its appearance is unchanged.

05

One last check before deciding to keep your leggings

Before deciding to keep a pair, repeat a few movements, check waistband comfort and look at coverage from several angles. If the result does not suit you, check your return options before washing or wearing it to a class. Afterwards, refer to our guide to caring for sportswear.
