NOVA is the fleece jacket you put on after class, on the way home, in the cold of November. Dense sherpa with a soft feel, 380GSM weight that insulates without stifling, a slightly oversized cut designed to be worn over leggings and a sports bra. It's not a technical fleece for mountaineering — it's an urban transition piece for lounging, a natural complement to an athleisure wardrobe designed to go from studio to street.
Why you'll love it
- Dense 380GSM Sherpa feel — deep softness that insulates without weighing down your shoulders
- Slightly oversized fit that easily layers over a sports bra, crop top, or thin sweatshirt
- 52 cm front length in size S, covers the top of leggings, frees the hip
- Technical finishes: neat cuffs, clean hems, discreet zipper if applicable
- Deep neutral palette — black, ivory, charcoal grey — designed to blend with any wardrobe
- Winter layering piece that can be worn under a trench coat, parka, or alone in mid-season
- Ideal for after-workout, on the commute home, on weekends, or for lounging at home
Galaya Sculpt Fabric
NOVA is part of the Galaya outerwear collection, built around the same specifications as Galaya Sculpt™ — durability, careful finishes, strict certifications — but with a fabric adapted for warmth. The 100% recyclable polyester Sherpa is densely knitted, treated to resist pilling with use, and retains its softness after dozens of washes. This is not a technical mountain fleece: it's a wardrobe fleece, sized for urban everyday life.
- Composition: 100% POLYESTER
- Weight: 380GSM (dense Sherpa, optimal insulation)
- Fabric: anti-pilling Sherpa fleece, soft memory foam feel
- OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified (absence of harmful substances)
- BSCI social audit (verified working conditions in the factory)
Fit & Sizing
On the model — The model is 1.75 m tall, size S, and wears a size S. The jacket falls just below the waist, sleeves to the wrist, for a balanced silhouette that clears the high waistband of Galaya bottoms.
Sizing advice — Slightly oversized fit. Take your usual size for a structured effect that follows the silhouette, or the size up if you want to layer several pieces underneath (sweatshirt + sports bra, for example). For a taller figure, the front length remains just at the waist — it does not cover the backside.
The size range starts from XS and goes up to XL. In lighter colors like ivory, the Sherpa shows its softness slightly more and gives additional visual volume; in black or charcoal grey, the silhouette appears sharper. Choose according to the desired effect, not warmth — all three colors insulate identically.
Care
- Machine wash at maximum 30°C, delicate cycle
- Mild detergent — never use fabric softener (it clogs technical fibers)
- Air dry — never tumble dry
- No dry cleaning or bleach
Sherpa flattens with intense heat — gentle drying, flat or hung on a thick hanger. Washed every 8 to 12 wears with fabric softener-free detergent and shaken dry between uses, NOVA retains its softness and color depth for several seasons.
Complete your look
NOVA pairs with all Galaya bottoms for after-workout or weekend wear. The winter piece that slips over any studio outfit.
- ZANIA Leggings (matching neutral)
- HARMONIE Leggings — best-seller
- DENEB Joggers (total loungewear look)
- SPICA Sweatshirt (warm cotton layering)
Frequently Asked Questions
What temperature can it be worn alone in?
With a weight of 380GSM, NOVA works alone between approximately 10°C and 17°C, without strong winds. Below that, layer it under a trench coat, parka, or wool coat — the Sherpa then becomes a warm and compressible mid-layer. Above 18°C, it can get warm quickly with sustained walking.
Is it suitable for outdoor sports activities?
NOVA is not a technical mountain fleece — it is neither windproof nor high-performance breathable. For intense hiking, cross-country skiing, or running in cold weather, prefer a technical breathable fleece. For urban walking, studio commutes, outdoor yoga in late autumn, or coffee between classes, it is exactly what it is designed for.
Does it pill after several washes?
The Sherpa is densely knitted and treated for anti-pilling finish. Washed at 30°C in a mesh bag, without fabric softener, and air-dried, NOVA retains its appearance after dozens of washes. Friction areas (cuffs, hem) may slightly densify with use — this is normal behavior for quality Sherpa, not a defect.
How do I know if my size is correct?
Since the fit is slightly oversized, your usual size will give you the expected effect — shoulders dropped at the edge, sleeves at the wrist, length just at the waist. If you are taller than 1.75m or want to layer several pieces underneath, take one size up. For a very slender build, a size down also works without looking tight — the Sherpa always maintains a sculptural volume.
Can it be worn for non-sport activities?
Yes — that's even its primary purpose. NOVA works equally well with straight-leg jeans, a wool midi skirt, wide-leg dress pants, or leggings. The neutral palette (black, ivory, charcoal grey) makes it interchangeable with any winter wardrobe. It's the athleisure-to-city transition piece, from studio to street.
How to care for Sherpa?
Wash at a maximum of 30°C in a mesh bag, with mild detergent and no fabric softener. Air dry flat or on a wide hanger, never in a tumble dryer or on a radiator — intense heat permanently flattens the softness. Between washes, shake the item dry or air it out on a hanger: the Sherpa will regain its volume. Reasonably washed (every 8-12 wears), it will last several seasons.
Is the fabric warm without being stifling?
Sherpa traps air in its 3D weave — it's the air pockets, not the fabric itself, that insulate. At 380GSM, the warmth is noticeable but the fabric remains breathable: unlike a waterproof material, body moisture gradually wicks away. It's comfortable sitting in the studio, walking in the city, and in overheated indoors.
What's the difference between this and a Patagonia Retro Pile or Uniqlo Sherpa?
The Patagonia Retro Pile aims for robust outdoor function, with a more utilitarian style and a significantly higher price point. The Uniqlo Sherpa is very affordable but has a boxier cut and less dense fabric (around 300GSM). NOVA strikes a balance: 380GSM weight close to high-end, women-focused athleisure cut, a curated color palette, and OEKO-TEX certification, which is absent from entry-level products.
Is the fabric certified free of harmful substances?
Yes. The fleece is OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified — a protocol that excludes over 350 concerning chemical substances (heavy metals, formaldehyde, phthalates, azo dyes, concerning flame retardants). This is particularly relevant for an item worn close to the face, neck, and wrists for several hours.
